Which GPS and telematics providers can you integrate with ERPNext?

We integrate with most vehicle trackers and telematics platforms that expose a data feed - either through a provider API (for example Teltonika, Wialon, Traccar, Samsara, or a local tracking vendor) or through the GPS device's own protocol. If your provider can push or expose trips, positions, and sensor events, we can map that feed into ERPNext rather than replacing your existing hardware.

Can I see vehicle locations in real time, or only historical trips?

Both. Live positions can be streamed in for near real-time tracking and alerts, while completed trips, routes, and daily utilisation are stored in ERPNext as historical records you can report on. Most fleets use the live view for exceptions and the historical data for cost attribution, disputes, and utilisation analysis.

What data does the integration capture from each vehicle?

Typical signals include GPS location and route traces, trip start and stop times, distance and duration, idle time, and ignition on/off events. Where the device supports it, we also capture sensor data such as fuel level, temperature, or door and PTO status. The exact fields depend on what your tracker reports, and we map only the signals that are useful for your operations.

Can trips be tied to specific jobs, vehicles, and cost centers?

Yes - that linkage is the whole point of bringing telematics into ERPNext rather than leaving it on a separate map. Trips are correlated to the vehicle record and can be tied to routes, deliveries, job assignments, and drivers, so distance and idle time roll up to the right department, project, or cost center. This is what turns raw movement into fuel variance investigations and utilisation reporting.

What alerts can the integration raise?

The integration can raise exceptions such as geofence entry or exit, movement outside approved routes or hours, excessive idling, and unusual stop patterns. Alerts are configurable so teams only see what they will actually act on, and each exception carries the underlying trip evidence for review, acknowledgement, and resolution inside ERPNext.

How do you handle the high volume of high-frequency GPS data?

Raw position pings arrive every few seconds per vehicle, which is far too granular to store as-is in an ERP. We aggregate that stream into meaningful trips, stops, and daily summaries at ingestion, keeping ERPNext responsive while retaining the detail needed for investigations. Ingestion is also replay-safe, so if a provider resends data or a device reconnects after being offline, trips are not duplicated.
